HISTORICAL FACTS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT ETHIOPIA
Ethiopia is an East African country in which
one of the four Biblical Rivers, the world's longest river know as the River Nile /Ghion/, originates.
It is the
original cradle of Human being in which the globally known Australopithecus African,
“Lucy”
is found.
Ethiopia was one of the leading civilized nations know
for its prosperity and architectures. There was a time when
coins were minted of pure gold.
The Name "Ethiopia" has been
mentioned 42 times in the Holy Bible. Ethiopia also
remains as a blessed land where the Garden of Aden /the Paradise/ is
located. The Ethiopian Queen, the Queen of Sheba, visited King
Solomon in Jerusalem, and has got a son named Menilik from him. Menilik
returned back to Jerusalem to visit his father at the age of 22. He
brought the Ark of the Covenant to Ethiopia with other Judaic
ritualistic
objects and religious books including the book of Eunuch, a book never
found in any part of the world. All these historical treasures make the country the treasurer of
the Biblical mysteries.
Ethiopia is known not only for preserving Judaic
religious values such as worshiping the One True God of Abraham and possessing the
Ark of the Covenant for centuries, but the nation was also able to receive
Christianity in advance in 34 AD by the Ethiopian Eunuch (Act 8:26).
It was never thought about Christian faith by later missionaries. Watch the video about Lalibela, a rock hewed Church built in the 12th C.
Ethiopia is an old kingdom founded 3000
years ago in East Africa known to be in history the only African
country never colonized by any of the European colonizers. Remember the Queen of Sheba and the battle of Adwa.
Ethiopian culture is dominantly
Christian. You can see the celebration of
Meskel and Timket national
holidays. UNESCO has inscribed Meskel commemoration feast of the finding of the True Holy Cross of Christ on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The same is expected to be for Timket (Epiphany).
Ethiopia is a county where Coffee Arabica, the coffee plant, originates. It
was found in a region know as Keffa, and therefore, the state was named Coffee.
Ethiopia is unique in Africa for
having its own endogenous language, alphabet, numerical system,
calendar, classical music, etc.
As in
the case of other countries, Ethiopia has some endemic animals that are
not found outside of the country.

"He can no longer have
God for his Father, who has not the church for his mother. If
anyone could escape who was outside the ark of Noah, then he
also may escape who shall be outside of the church" (St. Cyprian
of Carthage). |
